Current Activity
Investment Banking
ecp is currently working on several mid-size transactions, involving companies from France, Russia, Germany, the UK and the Middle East.
In each case, the sector focus falls within ecp's scope of competence, namely infrastructure and logistics, energy, natural resources and mining, and engineering.
We continue to assist European companies in identifying strategic partners to enhance their exposure to developing markets. In certain instances, this may involve the partner investing in the equity of the company.
Here follows a selection of current mandates :
ecp has ties with one of the leading electricity generating and waste management groups in the Middle East. We have been entrusted to identify strategic foreign partners to participate in the development of key infrastructure projects in our client's zone of influence. Prospective partners under review are major utility operators located for the most part in Europe, who see this as an opportunity to associate with a strong local operator, expanding beyond their current borders into attractive developing markets.
ecp is in discussions with a European Banking and Mining company looking to develop a substantial mineral deposit base, slated to commence operations by 2013. The company is seeking to raise funding through a combination of equity and bank finance. Focusing on its privileged access to investors in the Middle-East, ecp will participate with the early phase fundraising. Once funding is in place, it is intended the company will proceed with a market listing. ecp will be working alongside banks that will provide the debt portion of the investment, to be secured by off-take terms for the refined minerals.
On the logistics front, ecp is working with a European partner to restructure the naval logistics infrastructure of a Middle-Eastern state. The specific ties that ecp enjoys greatly facilitate access at multiple levels of the local Administration, enabling the European partner to enter into direct negotiations with the Arab partners.
Fund Management
ecp has been appointed as exclusive placement agent by Invest AD
(Abu Dhabi Investment Company) for France, the Benelux, Iberia and the Netherlands in its effort to raise a $400 million Private Equity fund.
The Fund will focus on the MENA region and Turkey, where Invest AD believes it has a competitive edge in experience, credibility and access to deals. The Fund will target growth companies, typically in mid to late stage development that are considered leaders in their markets and that are profitable. Invest AD has made a capital commitment of $75 million to the Fund.
ecp is the exclusive partner of the Ermitage Group - one of Europe's leading alternative investment solutions providers - for the Middle Eastern region.
Core to Ermitage’s service offering is its advanced portfolio construction and risk management system called OPTICS, recently licensed to CalPERS (Californian Public Employees' Retirement System) – the largest US Pension Fund by assets, managing $207 billion. Using this proprietary technology, Ermitage’s approach gives clients a greater level of control over their portfolio and assists them in meeting their specific requirements in terms of risk, return and other investment preferences.
